Rebuilding a Legend:
UX Concept for Laguna Secaβs First Mobile App
Laguna Seca is one of the most iconic and historically significant raceways in the U.S., yet it lacks even a basic mobile experience for fans. This concept project reimagines the race-day journey with a modern, mobile-first UX β designed to honor its legacy while delivering a smarter, more connected future for motorsport fans.

The Goal: Design Laguna Secaβs First-Ever Mobile App
The Process: UX Audit β Wireframes β Prototype
The Vision: A Race-Day Companion Worthy of the Track's Legacy
Outcome: A Concept That Modernizes, Not Replaces, Tradition
Project: Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca - The Laguna Seca Fan App
Role: UX/UI Designer
Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Notion
Timeline: 2β3 weeks (Concept Project)
π Research
UX Audit: Evaluated Sonoma Raceway, NASCAR, INDY CAR, F1 apps for best practices
Sonoma Raceway: Ticketing is buried and navigation lacks mobile responsiveness. No live alerts or personalization features.
IndyCar App: Sleek UI with race schedules, live timing, and notifications, but limited fan engagement tools.
NASCAR App: Offers live race coverage and AR features, but cluttered UI and overwhelming information layout.
User Personas: Weekend race fans, families, motorsport photographers, campers
Pain Points Identified:
Confusing event schedules
No mobile ticket management
Difficult site navigation (especially for first-time visitors)
Lack of real-time race updates
ποΈ Goals
Centralize race-day essentials in one app
Streamline ticket browsing and checkout
Offer interactive maps and real-time updates
Celebrate Laguna Secaβs legacy through design
π Key Features
Smart Dashboard: Countdown to events, weather, alerts
Buy Tickets Flow: Mobile-first design, progress indicators
Interactive Track Map: Camping, food, seating, bathrooms
Fan Mode: AR features, scavenger hunt, social feed
Push Notifications: Live race starts, delays, feature announcements
βοΈ Design Process
Wireframes: Created low-fidelity screens to map core flows

Prototype: Interactive flow created in Figma for home, tickets, map
π Whatβs Next
Add data visualization (lap times, driver stats)
Expand AR features
